Hospice
is a special kind of care for the terminally ill, their families
and caregivers. Our approach stresses palliative care (relief of
pain and discomfort), as opposed to curative care.
In addition
to meeting the patient's medical needs, hospice staff addresses the
physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patient. Emotional
support is also offered to the family and caregiver of each patient.
The Hospice
program emphasizes keeping the patient at home among family and friends.
It is
important to call Hospice early in the illness so that we can develop
a relationship with the family and the patient can benefit from our
full range of services.
The patient,
a family member, or a friend may call our office to request hospice
services. This call should be made after gaining the patient's and family's
permission to call.
